My MacBook Pro
I bought my 15.4 inch MacBook Pro in September 2006.
Here’s some software with descriptions I’m using on it — for work and for fun.
Web browsing
- In Safari I have Saft and SafariStand plugins installed that add some functionalities that I’ve been missing after using Firefox with different extensions.
- *Pukka is a neat app for posting links to del.icio.us from Safari and it costs only $5 to register.
- I use Web Developer extension in Firefox when working with CSS or Javascript.
- Vienna is a free simple RSS/Atom feedreader. I tried RSS support in Safari, but it had some bugs and crashed my browser from time-to-time.
Editors
- TextMate is The Text Editor that I use for programming, making notes, blogging and writing longer articles (with Markdown).
- I use NeoOffice for spreadsheets and opening other OpenOffice.org and Microsoft Office documents people send me. It is based on OpenOffice.org but does not need X11 on OS X and has native Mac features built in.
System
- I used QuickSilver for a while, but as I later found Butler it is now my preferred way to launch applications and scripts.
Media
- For video player I mostly use VLC, though it crashes often, but I find Frontrow a bit slow to use and VLC has better codec support
